If you’ve ever felt weighed down by something you can’t quite name — a heaviness in your chest, a pattern that keeps repeating, a reaction that feels bigger than the situation — there’s a good chance trapped emotions are involved. Emotion Code therapy is one of the most effective ways I’ve found to identify and release them.

What Are Trapped Emotions?

When we go through difficult experiences, emotions are meant to move through us. But sometimes — especially when the experience is overwhelming, sudden, or happens in childhood — an emotion doesn’t fully process. Instead it gets lodged in the body’s energy field, where it can influence how we think, feel, and function for years or even decades afterwards.

These trapped emotions aren’t just psychological. Research into the mind-body connection increasingly shows that unresolved emotional energy has physical consequences too — contributing to pain, fatigue, digestive issues, and a general sense of being stuck.

How Does Emotion Code Work?

Emotion Code was developed by Dr Bradley Nelson, a chiropractor who noticed that emotional imbalances were showing up in his patients’ physical symptoms. The method uses muscle testing — a form of kinesiology — to communicate with the subconscious mind and identify which emotions are trapped, when they became lodged, and where they’re being held in the body.

Once an emotion is identified, it’s released using a magnet drawn along the Governing Meridian — the energy pathway that runs along the spine. It sounds simple, and in many ways it is. But the results can be profound.

The subconscious mind holds the complete record of every experience we’ve ever had. Muscle testing gives us a way to access that record without needing the conscious mind to analyse, remember, or explain anything. This is particularly powerful for people who have experienced trauma, or for those who have tried talk therapy and felt like they were going round in circles.

What Can Emotion Code Help With?

In my practice in Wellingborough, I work with women experiencing a wide range of challenges — anxiety, low self-worth, grief, physical pain, relationship patterns, and a persistent feeling of being blocked. Emotion Code can support all of these. It doesn’t replace medical treatment, but it works beautifully alongside it, addressing the emotional layer that other approaches often miss.

Many clients notice shifts after just one session. Some feel lighter immediately. Others notice changes over the following days as the body integrates the release. Occasionally the process stirs things up before it settles — this is normal and usually brief.

What This Looks Like in a Session With Me

We begin with a brief conversation so I understand what’s been going on for you. Then you lie fully clothed on the treatment table while I use muscle testing to work through a chart of emotions, identifying what needs to be released. You don’t need to talk through anything painful or relive difficult memories — the process works at a deeper level than that. Most clients find it surprisingly peaceful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to believe in it for it to work? No. Emotion Code works at the level of the body’s energy system, which operates whether or not you consciously engage with it. Healthy scepticism is completely fine.

How many sessions will I need? This varies. Some people feel significant shifts after one session. Others benefit from a short course of sessions, particularly if they’re working through deep-seated patterns or longstanding trauma.

Is it suitable for everyone? Emotion Code is gentle and non-invasive. It’s suitable for most people, including those who are sensitive or have found other therapies overwhelming.

If you’re curious about whether Emotion Code might be right for you, I’d love to hear from you. You can get in touch or book a session directly. I’m based in Wilby and see clients from across Northamptonshire.
