Craniosacral Therapy in Northampton

The craniosacral system — the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord — has its own subtle rhythm. When this rhythm is disrupted by injury, stress, trauma, or illness, the effects ripple throughout the whole body.

Craniosacral therapy uses an exceptionally light touch to listen to and support this rhythm, releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system and allowing the body’s own self-correcting mechanisms to do their work. It is one of the most gentle therapies available — and one of the most profound.

What does craniosacral therapy help with?

Because the craniosacral system connects to every part of the body via the central nervous system, this therapy can support a wide range of conditions:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Jaw pain and TMJ issues
  • Stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation
  • Trauma and PTSD — including birth trauma
  • Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
  • Tinnitus and vertigo
  • Post-concussion symptoms
  • Emotional tension held in the body

What happens in a session?

You remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on the treatment table. Using an exceptionally light touch — often no more than the weight of a coin — Tessa listens to the craniosacral rhythm throughout the body, identifying areas of restriction and supporting their release.

Sessions are profoundly still and quiet. Many clients enter a deeply relaxed, meditative state during treatment. Some notice sensations of warmth, gentle pulsing, or emotional release as restrictions begin to shift. The work is subtle but its effects are often far-reaching.

Sessions last 60 minutes.

Pricing

Sessions are £50 for 60 minutes, available by appointment from Tessa’s practice in Wilby, a few minutes from Wellingborough and approximately 20 minutes from Northampton.

Frequently asked questions

What does craniosacral therapy feel like?

Most clients describe a deep sense of stillness and relaxation during treatment. You may notice warmth, gentle pulsing or tingling sensations, or a feeling of release in areas of the body that have been holding tension. Some clients experience emotional releases or vivid imagery. The work is profoundly gentle — there is no manipulation or pressure.

How many sessions of craniosacral therapy do I need?

For acute issues, some clients notice significant improvement after one or two sessions. For chronic or complex conditions — particularly those with a long history — a course of sessions is usually recommended to allow the work to go deep enough to create lasting change. Tessa will advise at your first appointment.

Is craniosacral therapy safe?

Craniosacral therapy is extremely gentle and has very few contraindications. It is suitable for women of all ages, including those with complex health histories, chronic illness, or sensitivity to more hands-on approaches. Tessa conducts a full consultation before every session.

Can craniosacral therapy help with trauma?

Yes — craniosacral therapy is increasingly recognised as a gentle and effective approach to trauma held in the body. Because it works through the nervous system without requiring you to talk about or revisit experiences, it can access layers of held tension that talking therapies cannot always reach.

Craniosacral therapy pairs well with Emotion Code and Reiki for deeper nervous system and emotional work. Read more: Trauma & Emotional Release Therapy in Northampton.
